Professor Natalia Jura

Dr. Natalia Jura received her M.S. from the Jagiellonian University in Poland and her Ph.D. from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. She trained as postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Dr. John Kuriyan at the University of California, Berkeley, and afterwards joined faculty of the University of California, San Francisco. She is currently an Assistant Professor in the Cardiovascular Research Institute and the Department of Cellular and Molecular Pharmacology. Her group uses structural and cell biology to understand molecular mechanisms of signal transduction with a specific focus on membrane-associated protein kinases and phosphatases. Her lab also investigates the alternative non-catalytic roles of kinase scaffolds in cellular signaling and applies this knowledge for design of small molecule inhibitors that target these poorly understood kinase functions in human diseases.
