Professor Robert Tampé
Robert Tampé is a distinguished biochemist based at the Biocenter of Goethe University Frankfurt and renowned for his groundbreaking work in understanding antigen processing, viral immune evasion, and antigen recognition. He also made pivotal discoveries in ribosome quality control, providing valuable structural and mechanistic insights into ribosome recycling and mRNA surveillance.
As a full professor at Goethe University, and an elected member of the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO), Tampé has dedicated himself to training and mentoring top-class young scientists. He is also the director of the Institute of Biochemistry and of the Research Center SFB 1507.
Throughout his career, Tampé has received numerous awards and grants, including two Advanced Grants from the European Research Council in 2017 and 2024. In 2023 he was honored with the prestigious Schaefer Research Scholar Award from Columbia University in New York.
