Dr. Yun-Ru (Ruby) Chen is a principal investigator focusing on protein misfolding and neurodegenerative diseases. She obtained her PhD from Biochemistry department, North Carolina State University, in USA in 2003, then did her postdoc training in Univ. of California, Irvine. Since 2007, she established her own laboratory in Genomics Research Center, Academia Sinica, Taiwan and currently is full Professor and Deputy Director of the center. She also serves as President of Asia Pacific Protein Association (APPA).

Dr. Chen has been working on amyloids including amyloid-β (Aβ) and tau in Alzheimer’s disease (AD), TDP-43 and dipeptide repeats in FTLD/ALS. She studied protein misfolding problem and investigated the pathogenic mechanisms of several neurodegenerative diseases. From the basic sciences, she also performed translational research to help developing therapeutic strategies against the diseases.
